Take no heed of the teacher he has the same thing to say and is bonkers, but the other answerers are spot on there are no real dangers in both countrys , but it is always good to be careful . Look up the safety section on ireland wikitravel its quite good ..

Dangers?The UK/Ireland are two of the safest countries in the world……….. maybe driving and running out of petrol is a danger if you didn’t fill the tank, having enough money to support your holiday asit is expensive, making sure you have health care travel insurance, maybe getting lost if you haven’t a map and you are off into the country on minor roads where the signage is not often the best ( but locals know and you can ask) and avoiding the pot holes in some roads, getiing stuck behind a farmer herding his sheep or his slow moving tractor…or the main one he has stopped to chat to someone regardless of you waiting behind and possibly several other cars……… so a danger of you not being patient, the danger of people who you have no idea who they are waving to you or stopping and chatting as if you are someone they do know………………

There really aren't any, unless you are foolish enough to go into Northern Ireland in July and the height of marching season, but even then you're fine if you stay away from large towns and cities.

It is much safer now as the IRA terrorists are mostly destroyed. Keep away from the Republican areas though as their supporters still hang around there and hate anyone that is not Irish.
